Marge Knigge, 80, of Mitchell, SD, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at her daughter’s home under hospice care in White Lake. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday, December 14, at United Methodist Church in White Lake. Burial will be at White Lake Cemetery. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Marge Knigge was born on April 18, 1941, to Laurence and Ellen (Nelson) Wait in Wessington Springs, SD. She graduated from Sprick High School in 1959.
Marge married Gene Knigge on November 20, 1959. They had two daughters, Renee (Ed) Peters and Robin both of White Lake. Marge and Gene lived and farmed around the White Lake area, and both became managers of Super Pig southwest of town.
Throughout Marge’s years, she was a waitress, cook, and manager of Dakota House in Salem, I-90 Café in Plankinton, Happy Chef, Doc N’ Eddy’s, and Daylight Donuts in Mitchell. She also cooked for Dakota Fields and Dakota Prairie Holidays in White Lake, up until her illness. Cooking was her greatest passion. She also enjoyed fishing with relatives, and playing cards with family and friends.
Marge was an avid member of the Red Hat Society, Bridge Club, Card Club, Women’s Auxiliary, and the Moose Lodge of Mitchell.
Marge is survived by her daughters, Renee (Ed) Peters and Robin Knigge; grandson, Blake Peters (fiancé Mara) of White Lake; significant other, Jim Pejsa and family.
She was preceded in death by Gene Knigge; parents, Laurence and Ellen; and brother, Darrel.

I am so saddened by Marges death. She worked with me at Daylight Donuts and was always such an encourager. She was one of the strongest women I have ever known. She was kind and generous. Your hearts are surely broken at this time. I’m praying that God will comfort you .
