Clara Mae Baker was born February 15, 1930, to Lawrence and Edna (Murphy) Bussmus in Mitchell. She grew up in Mitchell and attended Notre Dame School. On February 3, 1948, she married Donald Baker at St. Michael Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. They farmed west of Mount Vernon for many years. They retired in 1981 and moved to Mitchell. She was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church of Mount Vernon and a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Mitchell since 1981. She was a member of the Altar Society for many years.
She is survived by four sons: Dean Baker, Larry and wife, Cheri Baker, Ron and wife, Deb Baker all of Mount Vernon and Duane and wife, Nan Baker of Fremont, NE; three sisters: Doris Johnson of Washougal, WA, Helen Ripp of Mitchell and Donna Wilkis of Tucson, AZ; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2003; two brothers: Donald Bussmus and Orval Bussmus; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Baker; two grandchildren and her parents.
