Lureta C. Weber on July 30, 1952.  After Melvin’s discharge from the Army, Lureta and Melvin moved to the Heiman family farm outside of Ethan.  They farmed for several years and then moved to Mitchell.  Lureta worked as a nurse for St. Joseph’s Hospital (later to become Queen if Peace - Avera) in Mitchell.  Throughout the years, Lureta held many nursing positions at St. Joseph’s, including night supervisor, evening supervisor, assistant director of nursing, acting director of nursing and Safety Disaster Coordinator.  Lureta used her nursing skills to care for many family members and friends.  Even in her later years, when Lureta was in Memory Care, she still wanted to use her nursing skills to care for fellow residents.

Lureta was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish in Mitchell, participating in Rosary Club, the Alter Society and the Prayer Network Ministry.  She was a member of the Avera Queen of Peace Lamps.  She has known for her cooking and gardening.  She loved to dance and read.  In her younger years Lureta played the piano and sang.

Lureta is survived by three sons; Rev. Terry Weber, Gary Weber, and Allen Weber; two daughters, Linda Potts and Diane Babcock; one sister, Loraine Losser; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Mohr; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Anna Heiman; her husband, Melvin; two sisters, Hazel & Velma Heiman; one son, David Weber; one daughter, Sue Griess, 1 granddaughter, Miranda Babcock; and two brother-in-laws, Carl Losser and DeWayne Mohr.
