Obituary

Dorothy Nelson, 70, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Emery Community Cemetery in Emery. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy Anna (Sweeney) Nelson was born to Hugh and Edith Sweeney in Tyndall, SD on September 20, 1952. She attended school and graduated from Emery High School. Dorothy married Dennis Nelson in 1974. They had a daughter Stephanie.

Dorothy worked at Citibank for 16 years in several positions. She worked other jobs to pass her time. She also enjoyed her four grandchildren and their activities.

Grateful to have shared Dorothy's life with her are her daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Friesen; grandchildren, Jordan, Trystan, Olivea, and Bristol; brothers, Merlin (Vivian) Sweeney, Bob (Emelda) Sweeney; sister, Mary (Jim) Van Sickle; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John, Donald, and Rich Sweeney.

So sorry about Dorothy passing. It was great to see her at our last class reunion! We had such a nice visit. Wish I could attend tomorrow, but have another commitment. Our sympathy to you all.
