Obituary

Aaron Amussen, 61, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, under hospice care. A visitation will be Thursday, March 16, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Aaron Amussen, son of Donald P. Amussen and Carol A. Amussen was born March 17, 1961 in Mitchell, SD. He attended Mitchell High School and graduated in 1979.

He was a member of the American Legion. Aaron enjoyed hunting, shooting sports, and especially spending time outdoors enjoying nature. Any given day you could find him out checking his trail cameras looking for "the big one" or bird watching from his deck at the farm he was raised on and lived on until his death. Throughout his life Aaron worked for several industries in Mitchell from The Mouse House, TRAIL-EZE, Trail King, to Cabelas until his health would no longer allow him to work.

Grateful for having shared his life is his significant other, Teresa Councillor, Mitchell SD; his children, Brenna (Jerold) Andersen, Mitchell SD, Ailene (Lane) Henrichsen, Mitchell SD, and Lacee Kleinschmidt, Yankton SD; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea Larson and Eric Andersen; close family friend, Shelly (Derek) Tierney and their children Lyrik Strand and Lilith Tierney; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Christina Amussen; an infant daughter, Ariel; and sisters, Grace and Ailene Amussen.
