Obituary

Valeria Plucker, 93, of Emery, SD, died Monday, April 22, 2024, at Oakview Terrace in Freeman, SD. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, April 29, at First Baptist Church in Emery. Burial will be at Emery Community Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, April 28, from 2-4:00 PM with a 3:30 PM prayer service at the church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Valeria Berthaline Plucker was born September 1, 1930, to Joe and Bertha (Reiner) Friedrich in Tripp, SD.

Valeria was united in marriage to Harley Plucker on February 18, 1951. To this union, four children were born, Larry, Byron, Tim, and Gail. In 1954, Valeria and Harley moved to Emery where they farmed for 50 years milking cows and raising crops.

Valeria was a member of First Baptist Church in Emery and the American Legion. Valeria spent many years hosting Bible Studies, teaching Sunday School, and AWANA.

Valeria is survived by husband, Harley; sons, Larry (Robyn) of Cannon Falls, MN, Byron (Sue) of West St. Paul, MN, and Tim (Sharon) of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Gail (Yvan) Richer of Emery, SD; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Gladys Friedrich of Parkston, SD.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin Friedrich and Gilbert Friedrich; sister, MayDean Walz; brother-in-law, Darrell Walz; and sister-in-law, Mavis Friedrich.

I just heard of Valeria's passing this morning. Such a beautiful soul! My sympathy to the entire family!

Godspeed to a beautiful lady. You were kind, thoughtful, and understanding. My young children had all the milk they could drink, and they looked forward to going out to the farm to get it from the cooler.I looked forward to your calmness and love.My prayers are with your family.
