Walter B. Kampshoff


March 13, 1917 - April 11, 2014


Walter B. Kampshoff was born March 13, 1917 at home in Hanson County to Frank and Anna (Janzing) Kampshoff.  He farmed in the Epiphany area his entire life. On February 16, 1942 he married Dolores Klinkhammer. Walter was an avid card player, enjoyed dancing and watching the Twins play baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, three sons: Chuck (Myla), Sioux Falls; Jerry (Ruby), Canova; Lenny (Janet), Fulton; six daughters: Connie (Jim) Lynde, Mitchell; Linda Peterson, Donna Callies, Karlene (David) Meyer all of Sioux Falls; Mary (Ron) Paradeis, Mitchell; Deb (Dave) Paradeis, Watertown; two sisters-in-law: Ardella Gassman, Mitchell; Ag Kampshoff, Epiphany, thirty grandchildren, fifty-two great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: William, Arnold, Leo, two sons-in-law, Larry Peterson and Galen Callies and grandson, Matt Kampshoff.

To Chuck and Myla: So sorry to hear of your fathers death. My memories of your father goes back so many years. He was a wonderful man and a good friend of my father.

Walt always made us laugh, told really good stories, had the most creative way of swearing. He was a really good friend to our family. Sorry I won't be there in person to say goodbye , but I will send prayers. God Bless!
