Robert Beckmann

June 22, 1926 - December 1, 2013

Robert Bruce Beckmann was born June 22, 1926 at White Lake to Henry and Marie (Boedeker) Beckmann.  He grew up and attended rural schools near his home in Crystal Lake Township.  At the age of 18 he began farming with his dad.  On September 6, 1950 he married Irene Kluthe. They farmed southeast of White Lake where they were also involved in raising cattle and sheep, until retiring in 1980, due to health disabilities.  He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and then later Trinity Lutheran Church in White Lake.  He had a great love for polka music and dancing. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mitchell.  In October 2010, Robert and Irene moved to the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home.  He enjoyed the many visits from his family, grandkids and great grandkids, they always brought a big smile to his face.

He is survived by his wife Irene of 63 years, six sons: Richard (Sharon), Dale (Donna), Doug (Barb), Dennis, Dave, Dan all of White Lake; two daughters: LaVonne (Bill) Olinger, Emery and Mary Jo (Duane) Beckman, White Lake; twenty grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mary Beckmann, Mechanicsville, IA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Karen, two brothers, Vernon and Bill, sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Russell Toop, and sister-in-law, Dalphene Beckmann.

Robert is finally at rest after many years of ill health and hard fought battles.  He was a loving and caring man who gave everything to his family, grandchildren and friends of the community throughout his entire life.
