Dorothy Mae Hart was born to Raymond and Bertha (Zimmer) Torbet on August 9, 1923 in Mitchell. She married Charles "Bud" Hart on January 1, 1944 in Salem, SD. They moved to Long Beach, California where they resided for forty years.
In 1983 Dorothy and her husband Bud returned to their home state of South Dakota for their retirement years. Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed her grandchildren in California and her extended family in Mitchell. Attending family get-togethers, playing cards with friends, going on bus trips, going fishing with Bud and staying connected by phone with family and friends were some of her favorite things to do.
Her smile and hugs will be missed by us all.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Norma (Torbet) Shafer, Tea, SD, formerly of Mitchell, SD; son, Tom Hart and wife, Sue of Wofford Heights, CA; grandson, Steve Hart and his children, all of California; grandchildren from her late daughter, Renee (Hart) Dick: Tyler and wife Renee, Suzie, Ktee and Ryan and wife Vicki, all of California; her nephews & niece: Gary Shafer & wife Kay, Beckie Beeners & husband Keith, Michael Shafer & partner Chuck Crank; sister- in-law, Maxine Wilcox and many great nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Bud" Hart, a son Donnie Hart, a daughter, Renee Dick and a brother Vernon Torbet.
