Viola (Stoltz) Geppert Mohr


July 1, 1918 - January 19, 2013



Viola (Stoltz) Geppert Mohr was born on July 1, 1918 at Emery to Seth and Mary (Wethor) Stoltz.  She attended St. Martin Catholic School in Emery and graduated from Emery High School.

On June 14, 1938 she married Clarence Geppert. They farmed in the Emery area until her husband died on February 17, 1962.

She married Willard (Bill) Mohr on August 10, 1963.

They lived in Emery and operated Mohr Antiques for many years. Upon her husband’s retirement from the post office, they moved to Apache Junction, AZ, living there for 19 years. They moved back to Mitchell, SD in 1994. Viola moved to the Sioux Falls area November 2011.

She is survived by three daughters: Jean (Del) Black, Independence, MO; Joanne (Robert) Guy, Kernersville, NC; and DeLonde (James) Skrovig, Sioux Fall, SD; one son: Richard (Dawn) Geppert, Walker, MN; one step-daughter, Carol Latza, Mitchell; three step-sons: Jerry (Jean) Mohr, Mitchell; Tom (Peggy) Mohr, Grandin, ND; Richard Mohr, Sioux Falls; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren;  15 step grandchildren;  20 step great grandchildren, a sister, Sister Dominic Stoltz of Aberdeen; and two special former daughters-in-law, Leone Geppert, Spearfish, SD and Beth Eager, Luverne, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry; two husbands; a brother, Frowin; a sister, Sister Loretta; and a step-son-in-law, Gene Latza.

You have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mother and loved one. My Gr Grandfathers daughter was Margaret (Hintgen) Stoltz wife of Urban. I am working on the family History. email

Jean, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. She will be missed. Let God's promise to raise our dead loved ones to a resurrection to earthly life lift your heart. It is sure to come true. John 5:28,29. In the meantime, may your loving memories give you peace. Your family is in our thoughts.

Dear Family of Viola,
You have my deep empathy for your loss.
I have never met Viola, but visited with her
on the telephone when Sr. Dominic was
here at the Convent. She is now at Mother
Joseph Manor in Aberdeen. We are friends.
