Robert Lee "Bob" Andrews was born in Mitchell on May 29, 1923 to William G. and Sarah Coupe Andrews.
He attended Mitchell High School and served in the Army Air Corp in New Guinea and the Philippines for three and one- half years. Bob returned home to Mitchell in February of 1946 and on August 12, 1948 he married Mary Lou McComish, daughter of E.F. "Butch" and Amanda Moorman McComish.
Bob worked in Mitchell all of his life, first as a journeyman electrician at Tracy Electric and later as a pressman at the Mitchell Daily Republic. He and a partner started the Honda motorcycle business, Honda of Mitchell and "Andy", as he was known to the riders who hung out at the shop, was a regular attendee at the Sturgis Rally. He was an active member of the VFW, and also a member of the local Stagehands Union and ran lights and spotlights for the Corn Palace shows for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his widow, Mary Lou, one daughter, Cindy (Brian) Courtier of Los Angeles, CA; three sons: Robert L. Jr. of Louviers, CO, David L. (Karen) of Baltic, SD and Dan of Mitchell; one sister, Lola Schneider of Custer, SD; five granddaughters: Kimberly, Stephanie, Miranda, Sarah, Abbie and Catherine and three great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held by the family at a late date. Memorial donations may be made to the Mitchell VFW.
