Carl Severin Braa was born December 14, 1913 at Artesian to Lars and Anne (Vorseth) Braa. He grew up at Artesian, graduating from high school in 1932.On December 25, 1936 he married Evelyn Kelsey. They moved to Rockford, IL in 1941 where he worked at the Woodward Governer Company. In the fall of 1945 they returned and purchased a farm south of Fedora, where they lived for 26 years and also operated a launderette in Artesian. In 1970 a fire destroyed the launderette, they then moved to Artesian where they built a new home and Carl assisted his wife in her café. They wintered in Harlingen, TX for 22 years. In recent years they resided at Wesley Acres in Mitchell.
He is survived by his three sons: Dennis Braa, Sioux Falls; Curtis Braa, Waukegan, IL; and Doug (Becky) Braa, Mokena, IL; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Delores Kelsey, Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his parents, brothers, Joseph and Alfred and sisters, Alma Floholm and Alpha Cundy.
