Karen Maxine Jackman

Karen Maxine Jackman was born September 30, 1954 to Stewart & Maxine (Hansen) Nickel in Mitchell. Karen was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She attended Plano School, Mitchell Jr. High and graduated from Mitchell Senior High in 1972.

Shortly after her graduation Karen moved to Denver, CO. She married Kenneth Jackman in 1975, with a daughter, Khara born in 1985. Karen was a beautiful soul who loved singing and music. She enjoyed entertaining others and often sang Karaoke. She was known to always help others and had many friends. She was an advocate for the homeless and a lover of animals.

Karen leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughter, Khara (Eric) Thompson, Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Kimi; mother, Maxine Nickel, Mitchell; loving sisters, Elaine (William) Furister, Greeley, CO and Gayle (David) Barnaby, Maple Grove, MN; former husband, Kenneth Jackman, Denver, CO; dear friend, Ricky Steen, Denver, CO; nieces and nephews, Lizette Nelson, Bourbonnais, IL; Lloyd Nickel, Sioux Falls; Monica Furister and Matthew Furister, Greeley, CO; Aaron Furister, Coudersport, PA; and Michael Furister, San Antonio, TX.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Stewart Nickel; brother, Lloyd Nickel grandparents, Frances & Bert Jones and Herman & Hilda Hansen.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell.

My sympathy and prayers go out to Karen's family. I was a high school friend of Karen's and she was truely a wonderful, kind and gentle spirit . She had a great sense of humor and I am sure she will be missed deeply.

Our hearts are with you all at this sad time. Sisters are so special and though we never met Karen we understand the profound loss of one you grew up with so closely.
