Eva Marie Schmit


December 13, 1934 - March 13, 2012





Eva Marie Schmit was born December 13, 1934 on the family homestead north of Artesian to Lawrence and Loretta (Effling) Cote.  She moved with her family to Artesian where she graduated from high school in 1953.  On April 30, 1957 she married Raymond Schmit.  They were involved in farming south of Artesian. She was a member of St Charles Catholic Church, the Altar Society and served on the Sanborn County election board for many years. Eva’s family meant the world to her.

She is survived by her three children: Linda (Larry) Hostler, Mount Vernon, Roger (Cheryl) Schmit, Artesian, Carol (Mark) Hinker, Mitchell; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Travis (Sarah) Hostler, Carena (Tim) Jarding and daughter, Mercedes, Kenny Hostler, Heidi (Bob) Berg and sons, Quinton and Landon, Willie Hinker, Cote Hinker, Haley Hinker, Ashley Schmit and Austin Schmit and one sister, Jean Nelson, Huffman, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 2008, two brothers: Dean and Donald Cote and three sisters: Inez Nelson, Betty Peer and Rene Barta.

Our holidays, horse shows, football games, etc will not be the same without Eva "Buns" -she was one of the best Grandmas ever!!

Eva was a great lady to know !Our sympathies to her family . She will be added to the prayers for the dead in Holy Guadualupe Catholic Church in Healy Alaska Sun.
