Bradley Layne Nicholson

July 18, 1990 - November 12, 2011

Bradley Layne Nicholson, age 21, of Mitchell passed away on November 12 in Cleveland, OH. He was born on July 18, 1990 in Mitchell, SD to Layne and Anita (Page) Nicholson. Bradley grew up in the Artesian and Mitchell areas, attending schools in Artesian and Mitchell. He was baptized and confirmed into the faith at Endeavor Presbyterian Church in Fedora.

He graduated in 2010 from Mitchell High School. At the time of his death, Brad was attending Ohio Technical College (OTC) in Cleveland, OH. Bradley and Nick Collins placed 1st in the SD Student Auto Skills Competition in 2010 and went on to place 13th at the national competition in Dearborn, MI. While in Dearborn, MI, Ohio Technical College recruited Bradley and awarded him a scholarship to further his education in auto mechanics.

Bradley spent most of his time in the outdoors enjoying riding his go cart and his 4 wheelers with his brothers and sister. He spent many hours hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Brad enjoyed competing in 4-H shooting sports, trap shooting and pedal tractor pulls. He enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical and especially working on his “Danger Ranger.” He was active in 4-H and FFA where he competed in Dairy Cattle Judging and Ag Mechanics and served as the sentinel.

He cherished the time spent on his grandparent’s farm helping milk the cows, hunting and just being with them. Pheasant hunting was enjoyed at his uncle’s farm where he was known as “Up Bird”.

Bradley shared his love for life with his family and friends, in death he continued sharing his life thru Lifebanc.

Bradley is survived by his parents, his brothers Cody, Robert, and Lucas, sister Katelyn, nephew, Carson and niece, Trinity, grandparent’s Jerry and Charlotte Nicholson and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents Maynard and Thelma Page, Uncle Tom Page, Cousin Andy Page and a very special friend and hunter, Mark York, who nicknamed him “Up Bird”.

I knew Brad since he was in middle school because he was in the same class as one of my low vision students. He would stop by my room every so often when he needed help or didn't understand an assignment. Brad always said hello to me in the halls and I remember how 'tickled' he was when they placed in the auto skills competion. He was always a joy to visit with. He always made me feel like working with the kids was really worth my effort. I will never forget Brad!!

Layne & Anita only thing I can say is we are deeply sorry for your loss of Bradley, and give you some Bible verses to meditate on in this time of sorrow. Rev. 21: 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 11:33,36 Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! (36) For(because) of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. Your family, relatives, and friend are deeply in our prayers. Love Todd
