Kendell Stone Sr.

Kendell Stone Sr., 77, of Dimock, SD, died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his home in Dimock. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Kendell Sr. Stone was born on June 25, 1943 to Earl and Marie (Meadows) Stone in Alma, GA. He attended school and grew up in Georgia.

On May 7, 1969 Kendell married Patricia in Brunswick, GA. Together they remained in Georgia, until moving to Mitchell in 1979.

After moving to Mitchell, Kendell worked at The Daily Republic for many years until his retirement in 2009.

Some of Kendell’s favorite activities included watching sports, fishing, working on cars, spending time with his grandchildren, and sitting outside in his swing on hot summer days.

He spent the last 3 years of his life living with his daughter, her husband, and grandchildren. Kendell enjoyed playing with newborn puppies, and especially enjoyed picking on his grandchildren.

Kendell is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Greg) Hofer of Dimock, SD; son, Kendell Stone Jr. of Mitchell, SD; stepdaughters, Carolyn (Ricky) Collins and Linda (Gene) Drawdy both of Florida; grandchildren, Destiny (Levi), Delilah, Heaven, Drake, and Elijah; step-grandchildren, Sydney (Mike) Toebes, Brianna Hofer, and Zac (Brenna) Hofer; great-grandson, Garret; step-great-grandchildren, Hadley and Greyson; and brother, Jelon (Joyce) Stone of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents; stepdaughters, Nancy Jensen and Donna Crowder; step-son, James Gaulke; brother, Lamar Stone; and parents-in-law, Edward and Corlena Koranda.
