Obituary

Kenneth Boehmer, 78, of Mitchell formerly of Ethan, SD, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, January 4, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Dimock, SD. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Sunday at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Kenneth Millard Boehmer was born on August 18, 1942 to William and Regina (Schoenfelder) Boehmer in Parkston, SD.

Kenneth worked for Puetz Corporation for 40 years building commercial buildings across the state of South Dakota. He was also a volunteer fire fighter with the Ethan Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years.

Kenneth greatly enjoyed woodworking.  Above all, Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Kenneth was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan where he was on the church board for many years. After moving to Mitchell, he became a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Kenneth was a lifelong member of Knights of Columbus and Ethan American Legion.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Alvina Boehmer; sons, Glen (Tanya) Boehmer of Dakota Dunes, SD and Curt (Renae) Boehmer of Sioux Falls, SD; siblings, Larry (Virginia) Boehmer, Joyce (Darrel) Goldammer, Donetta Yusten, and Meryln Boehmer; and 5 grandchildren, Sara, Jared (Kayla O’Neal), Lindsay, Kyle, and Nick Boehmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley Boehmer; siblings, Alvin Boehmer, Oliver (Agnes) Boehmer, Jerry (Dorothy) Boehmer, and Darlene (Elmer) Muntefering; brother-in-law, Kenneth Yusten; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Boehmer.

Sorrry to hear of Kenny's passing. Great memories from when we were kids growing up. Visiting each others Dads and Mothers farms. Usually getting into some kind of trouble. Mary and my sympathies to the Boehmer families.

Alvina, Glen, Curt and families. We are so very sorry to hear about Kenny’s passing. The last time we saw Kenny and you, Vinnie was at the sausage supper in Mitchell.
