Rudolph Bittner, 94, of Mitchell, SD, died Monday, October 26, 2020 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Grace Reformed Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, November 11 at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. The family requests masks are worn. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Rudolph Bittner was born January 26, 1926 in Emery, SD to Carl and Emelia (Kost) Bittner. He was raised and educated in the Emery area. Rudolph entered the Army on January 19, 1945 and was honorably discharged August of 1946.
On September 25, 1949 he married Shirley Broeckel of McCusky, ND.
He farmed from 1950-1976 near Alexandria, SD. In 1977 they moved to Aberdeen, SD where he worked for John Evelo for a few years. Later on he owned and operated a janitorial service with his son Lowell and wife, for many years. Rudolph retired in 1998 and moved back to Mitchell a year later. He worked for the Daily Republic delivering papers in his retirement.
Rudolph was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Grace Reformed Church.
Rudolph is survived by his wife, Shirley of Mitchell, SD; 2 sons, Owen Bittner (special friend Joann Prieheim) of Marion, SD and Lowell (Rhonda) Bittner of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 granddaughters, Amy (Kris) Fauth of Omaha, NE and Kelsey (Darrel) Grimm of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 great-grandsons, Brady and Evan Fauth; and brother Loren (Jayne) Bittner of Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan Bittner; 4 brothers; and grandson, Dustin.
