James “Jim” Mads Hauge was born on December 11, 1945 to George and Josephine (Gillum) Hauge in Long Beach, CA. He was talented at a young age, learning to play the piano at 5 years old. Jim grew up in Torrence, CA, and graduated from high school in Torrence. After high school, he attended El Camino Junior College.
Jim was drafted into the Army, and served in Vietnam from July 1967 to July 1968. Upon returning from the Army, he worked for the City of Torrence. In Jim’s retirement he loved to travel. He and his wife, Peg, traveled from continent to continent, and road tripped through the USA. He also restored old cars and a 1950 Harley. Jim was very family oriented, and loved watching his grandchildren in their activities. He would be the first to volunteer to chauffer his “girls” to their concerts. He and his granddaughter, Isabella, were 4th of July bean bag champs. Jim was also proud to receive “Yard of the Month” with help from George and his grandsons, Spencer and Dawson. Jim enjoyed trap shooting, and even played pickleball with some prodding from Peg and loved it!
Jim was active in the community as a member of Meals on Wheels, Love Feast, Snack Pack, DAV Transportation, NRA, VFW, and was a finance officer for American Legion Post 18 in Mitchell.
