Rebecca Solberg, 71, of Mitchell, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Rebecca Helon Solberg was born on April 12, 1948 in Iola, KS, to Wilburn Keith and Helon (Truster) King. She was raised in Wichita, KS and spent many precious times at Aunt Mae and Uncle Bud’s farm in Iola, KS.
She was a “Beatle Maniac” and one of her greatest memories was seeing the Beatles in 1964 in Kansas City. She also went on a Beatles tour to England with Francie.
Becki graduated from Southeast High School in Wichita, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS. She moved to Mandaree, ND after college and worked as a teacher with the BIA. She later moved to Devils Lake, ND and met Keith Solberg. The couple married on August 4, 1973 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake.
Her home was where the neighborhood kids could come to cook, make a mess, and always get a hug. Becki instilled a value of music and adventure in her family. Many family trips to visit family and see new places were very important. The family moved to Mitchell, SD in 1991. As her kids grew and she nannied more, she was able to travel with her husband.
She was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell, and was involved with their bell choir and helped with Sunday School Music.
Becki is survived by her husband, Keith R. Solberg, Mitchell, SD; son, Courtney Solberg (Clare Johnson), Fargo, ND; daughter, Lindsey (Dan) Herbel, Bismarck, ND; two grandchildren, Stella and Maxwell Herbel; brother, Charles King, Wichita, KS; and aunt Glennis Stillwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Aunt Mae and Uncle Merrill “Bud” Truster; and many aunts, and uncles.
