On June 26, 1962, Alice shared her wedding vows with Charles Sommer at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Dimock, SD. They made their home in Mitchell, SD, where they raised their family in the same home they have today. Alice and Chuck were married for 57 years.

She enjoyed spending time with any and all of her extended family and attending many reunions. Alice was a long-time teammate at the local JCPenney store and enjoyed finding a good deal to bring home. After retiring, Alice and Chuck traveled often to see family, making trips to Montana, Missouri, Kansas, Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida, and Texas. Alice remained active in the church, serving in the Altar Society and helping to organize funeral lunches. She loved to read, listen to music, and sew clothing and blankets.
