Elsie Keller, 95, passed away Wednesday, October 30th at the Aurora-Brule Care and Rehab in White Lake, South Dakota.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, November 4th at the White Lake United Methodist Church, with a dinner following the service. Burial will be in the White Lake Cemetery. A visitation will take place Sunday, November 3 from 5-7:00 PM at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Elsie Keller was born on September 10, 1924 to Carl and Matilda (Aldinger) Mittleider in Java, South Dakota. Elsie attended school through the 8th grade in a country school, and was unable to attend high school because of distance and cost during those years. After finishing school, she worked around the area for relatives and those needing various kinds of help.
She married Ervin Keller on March 23, 1947 in Java, South Dakota, where they resided on a farm outside of Java. They moved to Aberdeen in the mid-1950s and to White Lake in 1960. Elsie was a housewife and mother until her children were older and began work at the White Lake Nursing Home in 1971. She became Kitchen Manager and worked until her retirement in 1993.
She was a member of the White Lake Methodist Church and held various United Methodist Women positions and also other committees within the church.
Ervin and Elsie were married 58 years. She is survived by her daughters, Donna (John), White Lake, and Charlene (Bill) Foltz, Cottage Grove, Minnesota; and son-the late Darrel(Connie) Keller, Sioux Falls, seven grandchildren, Brianne Cherry, White Lake, Brandon Cherry, Montebello, CA, Justin Cherry, San Diego, CA, Rebecca (Foltz) Hoff, Cottage Grove, MN, Charlie Foltz, Cottage Grove, MN, Sam Keller, Sioux Falls, and Blake Keller, Sioux Falls; 9 great-grandchildren, Jayden and Maya Gonzalez, White Lake, Samantha Rowan, Fresno, CA, Stella Foltz, Lola Foltz, Ava Rhode, Sophie Rhode, Reese Hoff, and Riley Hoff, Cottage Grove, MN.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; son, Darrell, and brothers, Alvin, Eugene, Fred and Marvin; and sisters, Rose, Ida, and Violet.
