Obituary

Henry Fergen, 77, of Mitchell died Monday, October 28, 2019, at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Henry Leonard Fergen was born to Henry and Helen (Weber) Fergen on November 23rd, 1941. He grew up on a farm, attended Dimock Catholic Grade School and graduated from Parkston High School. In 1962 he married Carol Stoltz and together they had four children. Henry was employed in the lumber industry for almost 45 years. He was a former sales manager for Anderson Lumber, United Building Centers and ProBuild. Henry loved people and found no one to be a stranger for long. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Ag Advisory Board at Mitchell Tech and was on the Holy Spirit School board. In his spare time, he loved playing cards, hunting, listening to music and visiting with his many friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Carol and children, Michael (Karen) Fergen, JuLee (Aaron) Titze, David (Kathy) Fergen and Lisa (Ryan) Thompson. Grandchildren: Ciera Fergen, Alex (Claire) Titze and Cassie Titze, Claire and Sam Fergen and Noah, Carter, Olivia, and Sutton Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jim, Leonard, Joe and sisters Agnes Boehmer, Adella Laber, and Helen Schelske. He is survived by his brother Don Fergen and sister Mary Ann Boyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for the family to make a contribution in Henry’s name to the Alzheimer Association or the Avera Borman Manor. Memorials can be sent to Bittner Funeral Chapel, 805 W Havens Ave. Mitchell, SD 57301.

We are sorry to say we wont be at Henry's funeral to celebrate his life, and give you our personal condolences, we have traveled in our Motorhome to Florida already for the winter
