Obituary

Michael James Meyers, age 64 of Mitchell, SD passed away October 2, 2019.

Mike Meyers was born October 7th, 1954 to George and Elinor Meyers, in Huron, SD. He grew up and attended school in Huron, graduating from high school in 1973. Mike later entered the United States Army, and served two tours in Germany. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to Huron to live and work for over 20 years until he moved to Mitchell, SD in the early 2000s. He was employed with AKG Manufacturing in Mitchell at the time of his death.

Mike was gifted with a strong work ethic, and was very proud of being a veteran and having served his country. He also had a life-long enjoyment of motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mike is survived by his brother Randall (Kathy) Meyers of Hot Springs, SD; his sister Lauri (Jason) Hoffmann of Sioux Falls, SD; his niece Rebecca Meyers of Hot Springs, SD; his grand-nephew Sean Nau of Hot Springs, SD; his maternal aunt Beverly Peck of Huron, SD; his paternal uncle Lyle Meyers of Huron, SD; and numerous cousins.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date, with internment at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to his family at 27555 Denise Dr, Hot Springs, SD 57747.

Mike and I graduated from Huron High School in 1973. We didn't run with the same crew but I remember him as a very nice guy who was well liked. My condolences go out to his loved ones.

I worked with Mike at AKG. I will always remember how he greeted me with a "Hey, sweetie!" and hug almost every day! It made my day every time! My deepest condolences to his family.
