Deanna Ducheneaux, 77, of Mitchell, formerly of Aberdeen, died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, SD with burial to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Deanna Rae Ducheneaux was born on August 20, 1941 to Ray Arlo and Esther Louise (Dunker) Dayton in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She attended school in Stratford and graduated in Warner, SD in 1959. After graduation, she moved to the Twin Cities. She married Dale Ducheneaux on April 2, 1960 in Minneapolis, MN. After their first born son, Dale, was born, the couple returned to South Dakota and resided in Columbia, Bath, and Stratford. Deanna worked for Central Dakota for a short time before moving to Hartley, TX. She worked for Swift Meats Packing with her husband, Dale. In 1978, they moved to Sioux Falls, where Deanna began working at 7 Eleven for several years as a manager. Later, she went to work at Citi Bank and then retired after working at Aberdeen Grain Inspection.
Deanna’s top priority was her family. During the holidays she was known for putting on a feast, complete with a dessert table of goodies. Deanna loved to bake for her husband and family. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her five sons, Dale Ray (Janet) Ducheneaux of Canton, SD, Mark J Ducheneaux of Salem, Jeff Clay (Lisa) Ducheneaux of Sioux Falls, SD, Kelly K (Mary) Ducheneaux of Tekamah, NE, and Lance A (Jodi) Ducheneaux of Mitchell; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Dawn (Paul) Fischbach, Warne of Warner, SD; and brother Dennis Dayton of Aberdeen, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Alden Ducheneaux, and grandson, Derrick Ducheneaux.
