Ronald Herbert Endorf, 70, of Mitchell, SD, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Brady Vasek Villa in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria on Saturday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation to greet family and friends will start at 9:00 a.m. at the church until the time of the service. Ronald Herbert Endorf was born on September 25, 1948, in Mitchell, SD, to Herbert and Eleanor (Roster) Endorf. He attended Edgerton Independent Consolidated School in Farmer, SD and graduated in May of 1966. He then enrolled at Southern State College in Springfield, SD, and graduated with a degree in mechanics. He worked at Moorman’s Manufacturing in Alexandria for 26 years. He also worked at Sioux Nation Feed and Vet Supply out of Sioux Falls delivering feed to area farmers. Ron then started working at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell in the housekeeping department until he retired. In 2015, he moved into an apartment in Mitchell at Brady Home, but then shortly after was transferred over to the Vasek Villa for his remaining years.
Ron was a dedicated New York Yankees fan and loved to watch all their baseball games. He also served as an umpire for baseball games in Alexandria and Mitchell. He was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria. For a few years, he was a catcher for a fast pitch softball team in Mitchell. He also spent a lot of his summers helping his Uncle Bud Roster on his farm.
Those left behind are his two sons, Kelly (Tracey) Endorf of Epiphany, SD, and Ben (Kelli) Endorf of Epiphany, SD; his eight grandchildren, Paige, Kendra, Carter, Conner, Erica, Brooke, Drew and Luke Endorf; two sisters, Bonnie (Robert) Coy of Sioux Falls and Jerri (Lanning) Edwards of Mitchell; eight nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Eleanor Endorf, maternal and paternal grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
