Mary Louise Weiland, 95, Mitchell, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Firesteel Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 2 at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Friday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Mary Louise Weiland was born December 18, 1923 at Mount Vernon, SD to Albert and Gladys (Younie) Moller. She was raised on the farm south of Mount Vernon, graduated from Stickney High School in 1941 and Dakota Wesleyan University in 1943. She taught in Fulton Grade School and Davison County Baker Township School. On June 10, 1950 she married Calvin James Weiland. She was the county executive director for the Davison County Office of the US Department of Agriculture from 1946 until retiring in 1980. After retirement she and Cal enjoyed traveling and attending family gatherings. She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was involved in bible study groups, the Heartland Quilters Guild and did volunteer and mission work. She was a member and volunteer of the James Valley Community Center.
She is survived by one sister, Phyllis Wieczorek of Corsica, two brothers-in-law: DeWayne (Margaret) Weiland of Mitchell, Dick (Addie) Weiland of Sequin, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin in 2007, one brother, Gilbert Moller and one sister, Evelyn Gerlach.
