Bernie was a very special friend of mine. I will alway remember the good times camping and fishing and growing up in Kewanee. Singing in the group 'The Five Coachmen" in High School was a blast. My prayers are with MaryAnn and her family.

Dear Mary Ann & family. You have lost a kind & gentle man--one who always had a big smile on his face. He & Butch did some traveling together when they were working at Trail King & they always had a good time. We share your sorrow in the loss of Bernie who is gone too soon.

What a beautiful photo/video tribute to Bernie and all of the lives he touched in so many special ways! He will be missed by so many but he will be forever remembered for his unconditional love and commitment for his family. His unique sense of humor and trademark laugh will always be some of my favorite memories. What a beautiful difference one single person made in this world!!

I have some fun memories doing community theatre with Bernie. He was the kidnapping phantom to my soap opera heroine, but I think my favorite memory was when he would read Twas the Night Before Christmas on stage for a group of children during Home for the Holidays. He was the perfect grandpa figure, both fictionally and in real life, from what I read here. I’m so sorry for his loss.
