Beverly Frey, 85, of Mitchell died Friday, November 23, 2018 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, at Reunion Church in Mitchell.  Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Beverly Belle Frey was born on September 25, 1933 to Ralph and Cora (Huber) Preston. She attended Mitchell Public Schools for her education and graduated in the class of 1951. After graduation Beverly worked at The Daily Republic until she married Lyle V Frey on September 12, 1954. They made their first home in Iowa where they were blessed with two daughters, Rochelle and Tamara. They returned home to South Dakota settling in Sioux Falls where they had two more daughters, Monique and Shawn.

In 1967 Beverly was delighted to return and make a home in Mitchell where she and Lyle eventually started a successful New York Life Insurance business. That business spanned the rest of her working years.

Beverly played an active role in Christian Women's Council for many years holding each one of its various offices at one time or another. She enjoyed making the monthly "Prayer Favors" and the center pieces the most. She was always active in her various church homes teaching Sunday School when her children were small and serving on church boards and hospitality committees throughout her life. She was passionate about making God's house beautiful and used her artistic skills to create seasonal bulletin boards, head the Christmas decorating, and costume and set design for numerous church programs.

Beverly had a philanthropic nature and was a supporter of The Salvation Army, Life Quest, St. Josephs Indian School and the Union Gospel Mission amongst many others. She was a history enthusiast all her life and enjoyed delving into her Scottish heritage in her later years.

She is survived by her four daughters, Rochelle Lehrman, Tamara (Glen) Lowrie, Monique Frey, and Shawn Frey, and two grandchildren, Jennifer Lowrie and Brett Lowrie. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, and her sister, Lorraine Frey, and brothers Francis and William.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the 'God of all comfort' be with you during this difficult time. I have personally found comfort in the promise at 1 Corinthians 15:26 where it states very soon 'death will be brought to nothing'. Then, we have the prospect of being reunited with our loved ones right here on Earth (John 5:28,29). I truly hope this brings you comfort and peace. With deepest sympathies, Gwen and family.

Rochelle, Tammy, Monique and Shawn,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I was blessed to have Bev create a beautiful bulletin board for our wedding. She covered up the ugly brown of the bulletin board and made it a master piece of beauty using satin and pink. I was so amazed at her talent. We even used it as a back drop for some of our wedding pictures. She was always so kind and her smile brightened the whole room…So many good memories! You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love and Hugs to each one of you!

I was saddened to see that Bev passed away. Our friendship goes back nearly 50 years, as her husband Lyle an I joined New York Life at the same time in 1968. Hers was usually the first Christmas card we received every year. May she rest in peace.
My sympathies to the "Girls", as she called them.
