Donald Meinen, 72, Chamberlain, SD died Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 16 at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Donald Arthur Meinen was born on July 29, 1946 in Mitchell, SD to Arthur and Frances (McManus) Meinen. Don grew up on a farm near Fulton, SD and attended Fulton Schools for 12 years and later General Beadle in Madison for four years. He moved to Chamberlain, SD where he began his 24-year teaching and coaching career. He stayed in Chamberlain and worked for the city for another 14 years before his retirement.
Don was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Elk Foundation, and the Shooting Range in Chamberlain. He also taught Gun Safety Courses for many years. Don was always hunting or fishing and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and his life on the river.
He is survived by his brothers, Leon (Debbie) Meinen of Rapid City, and Delvin (Paula) Meinen of Larchwood, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and niece Jessica Deines.
