Phyllis Jean Hoeltzner

Phyllis Jean Hoeltzner, 91, of Mitchell, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018 under hospice care at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell.

Phyllis Jean Hoeltzner was born October 24, 1926 in New Underwood, SD to Walter and Mae (Learn) Kennedy. When Phyllis was seven, she moved with her family to a farm at Riverside, SD. She graduated from Mitchell Senior High in 1944 and went to work at Kresge’s Drug Store. Phyllis’s husband preceded her in death in 1955 and she was left to raise their three children. Through the years Phyllis was employed at Newberry’s, Ben Franklin Crafts, and retired at the age of 74 from Plaza Cleaners. Phyllis was a proud member of TOPS for many years and was an active Brownie and Cub Scout Leader in her children’s growing years.

Phyllis enjoyed long walks, tending to her large gardens, and in her spare time she loved to spend time with her family, crochet, tat, and sew. In June 2015 she became a resident of Firesteel Healthcare Center.

She is survived by her children, Ed Hoeltzner, Ft. Collins, CO, Curt (Janel) Hoeltzner, Aberdeen, and Cathy (Terry) Stoltz, Alexandria; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; special friend William Zemina; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Stevens-Hoeltzner.

I will miss seeing her almost every morning when I was working. Seeing her smiling face asking her how she feels or how is her day going. Love Prayers & Thoughts to the Family.

My sincere sympathy. When I was in grade school, I believe your family knew our family. My father and mothers name was Sylvester (Sonny) and Helen(Minnie) Getz. My brothers name is Wayne Getz. Pray your families doing Okay. God Bless, Pat Nelson
