I had the privilege of knowing and working with Earl for 20 yrs. at the State Fair. Earl was like my time clock. He would call me up and say, "Well Linda, it's time to order radios for the Fair or Wheel Jam." He would then proceed to give me the order of what was needed. Also, he would be one of the first of my workers to show up on either the Friday or Saturday before Fair to get his supplies and radios to set up the Security Office. I think one of the hardest things for him to say was "I have to give up working the Fair because of my health." What a sad day that was for him. Rest in Peace my friend, it was a pleasure knowing and working with you!!!

What a warm, caring man and a smiling face we will miss at the State Fair. He was a true law enforcement professional and we were very honored he was recognized for his service to the fair.

14 years has been a long time of working with Earl at the SD State Fair. It just won't be the same without Earl at the fair, even last year when not working he and Connie came in the office like old times. Earl received the Bob Duxbury Award for his contributions to the SD State Fair in 2013, I had to trick him to get him to the Sherwin Linton Stage for the presentation as it is always a surprise he sure gave me a bad time about that. There will be no goodbye's only see you on the other side.
