Viola Irene Davis, 86, died December, 15 2017, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Mitchell with Pastor Keith Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be 6-8:00 PM Friday at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 7:30 PM prayer service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Viola Irene Davis was born on November 2, 1931 to Anton and Dorothy (Bartunek) Andersh on the family farm south of Dante, SD. She attended country school and moved to Wagner, South Dakota with her family in 1945. She attended Wagner High School and graduated in 1950.
She was united in marriage to Earl W. Davis on December 17, 1950 at the Wagner United Methodist Church. Four children were born to this marriage. She was an active mother. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower garden. After the children were grown, she assumed the position of manager of the Palace City Federal Credit Union in Mitchell until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and devoted to her faith. She was an active member of the church’s quilting club. She enjoyed sewing and crafts and playing cards in her spare time.
She is survived by her husband, Earl and four children, Victoria Jones and husband, Dennis of Clermont, Florida, Jeanette Ofstad and husband, Randy, of Rapid City, South Dakota, Diana Davis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Roger Davis, MD and wife, Kathe of Pueblo, Colorado, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three siblings, LaVerne and Francis Andersh of Rogers, Arkansas, Mayme and Roland Crisman of Wagner, South Dakota and Delores Radack of Tripp, South Dakota, and numerous nieces and nephews. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Dorothy Andersh.
