Alvin Iverson, 88, of Mitchell, formerly of Huron, died, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at The Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 18 at the Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Tuesday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are with the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Alvin Warren Iverson was born April 10, 1929 in Carpenter, SD to Knudt & Lulua (McMillian) Iverson. He graduated from Doland High School in 1948. He was inducted into the ERC infantry in October 1951.
On June 14, 1951 he was united in Marriage to Edna Solberg, to this union, seven children were born. They made their home in Huron, SD working various jobs until he became self-employed as a carpenter.
Later he moved to Mitchell where he was employed at Menards for 20+ years until his retirement in 2016. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the Mitchell Fusion Church.
He is survived by his children, Arnold Iverson, Carol Iverson, Marie (Monte) VanVugt, Larry Iverson, Jim (Amy) Iverson, Wayne (Laura) Iverson, Pat (John) Haiar, sixteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren, and good friend Sharon Broghammer. Along with his brothers Leland Iverson, Gerald Iverson, Delmar Iverson and sister Marvilyn Albright. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; sisters Joyce Iverson and Alverta Reilly and brothers Marvin and Arnold Iverson.
