Helen Rose Bame


January 26, 1936 - January 17, 2017



Helen Rose Bame was born January 26, 1936 to Theodore and Caroline (Yusten) Reinartz at Ethan, SD.  Helen grew up in Ethan and attended school in Ethan.  After high school Helen attended Stewarts School of Hair in Sioux Falls.  On November 18, 1959 Helen and Edward Bame eloped and then on January 2, 1960 they were married at Yankton.  They raised their family in Yankton and Watertown, SD before moving to Garden Grove California in 1964. They moved back to Ethan in 1977. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan until moving to Mitchell in 2013 and she became a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

he is survived by her children: Charles Bame of Grand Rapids, MI, Peggy Swift of Mitchell, Janice (Don) Loyd of Yankton, Valerie (Bill) Miketta of Show Low, AZ, Cheryl (Donnie) Maeschen of Ethan, Lynette Knigge of Redfield, Dawn (John) Schlaffman of Ethan, twenty three grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, two sisters: Mildred Hartman of Sioux Falls and Dolores Paulus of Worthington, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, two sons, Daniel and Jeffrey Bame, one granddaughter, Vicky, one brother, Francis Reinartz and son-in-law, Robert Knigge.
