John Michael Fett and his twin sister, Joan, were born on November, 1 1958, in Mitchell SD, to Howard and Donna (Titze) Fett. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plankinton. John attended Hopper country school until 6th grade and graduated from Plankinton High School in 1977. He then attended Mitchell Technical Institute where he earned a welding certificate . He married his high school sweetheart, Lori Dodd, on August 16, 1980. John and Lori moved into John’s great grandparents’ farmhouse in rural Plankinton, where they lived for 35 years, while raising their two daughters, Britni and Danielle. John was able to live his dream of farming with his father, Howard, for over twenty years, until having to retire due to health reasons. In order to keep busy, he learned to do bookkeeping and took over management of Lori’s home bookkeeping business for over 15 years. He was a member of the Hopper Township Board and a member of the United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with family and always supported his daughters in their many activities. He loved to cook, take lazy rides with his dog, joke and talk with friends, and most of all spend time with his first grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife, Lori (Dodd) Fett, Mitchell; two daughters: Britni Fett, (Jim Mueller), Danielle (Daren) Johnson; mother, Donna Fett; sister, Joan Hoefert; brother, Ed (Merridy) Fett; two grandchildren, Weslee and Lilee Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Fett, brother-in-law, Tom Hoefert and his grandparents.
