Elaine Jerolyn Anderson was born January 1, 1934 to Ed and Nettie (Young) Weber south of Wagner in Charles Mix County, SD. She attended eight years in country school, Choteau Creek #3. In 1952 she graduated from Wagner High School, at Wagner, SD. Elaine attended the Methodist School of Nursing for two years. She married John “Jack” Stork on June 2, 1954. Elaine worked at the Wagner Hospital in Wagner, SD and St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston, SD. She moved to Mitchell, SD in 1970 where she graduated from the Mitchell Vocational Technical School in the LPN program.
On January 14, 1977 she married Wilmer “Bill” Anderson at Mitchell, SD. Elaine worked for Krall Optometric Clinic for seventeen years, retiring in 1988. She started a cottage industry of machine quilting with daughter, Jackie Arens. In 1992 she organized the Heartland Quilters Guild.
Elaine was a member of New Home Lutheran Church and served in various offices including the Church Council and president of WELCA. She served on the board of Meals on Wheels, was treasurer for twelve years of the Lisbon Township Board. Elaine also served on the James Valley Community Center Board and volunteered for many hours with the James Valley Community Center.
She is survived by sons: Ralph Stork, Mitchell, Jeffrey Stork, Mitchell, Paul (Natalie) Stork, Rosenberg, TX, Brian (Barb) Stork, Alexandria; daughters: Jacqueline “Jackie” Arens, Mitchell, Ann Girard, Mitchell, Lisa Stork, Danville, VA; step children: William Anderson, Oakland, CA, Judy (Bill) Middleton, Reston, VA, and Linda (James) Anderson-Henry, San Rafael, CA; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; siblings: JB (Elaine) Weber, Parkston, Dean (Karen) Weber, Wagner, Dale (Shirley) Weber, Salem, sister-in-law, Pearl Weber, Wagner, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, “Bill”; daughter, Lori Stork; parents; two brothers, Lester and Edward; sister, Lila Zacharias; brother-in-law, Wesley Zacharias and two grandsons, Daniel Girard and Travis Stork.
