Eva Mae Malde Olsen was born February 10, 1918 in Humboldt, IA to Charles and Ida (Moffit) Anderson. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School. Eva worked at a bakery for several years. On April 22, 1937 she married Edwin Malde in Humboldt. In 1942 they moved to the Malde family farm near Mount Vernon, SD. Edwin died in 1970. On October 7, 1972 she married Gilbert Olsen in Mount Vernon. They farmed until retiring and moved into Mount Vernon. For a number of years Eva worked at the Storla Nursing Home. She enjoyed attending and keeping up with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the Salem Lutheran Church and her faith was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her two sons: Merlin (Peggy) Malde of Rochester, MN and Duane (Mary) Malde of Mount Vernon; two step-children: Charles (Roberta) Olsen of Mount Vernon and Darlene (Tom) Schultz of Pearl City, IL; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Edwin Malde and Gilbert Olsen; two infant sons: Warren and Douglas Malde; two sisters: Jenny Buck and Grace Thorton and two brothers: William Anderson and Harry Anderson.
