Thomas Holland Fox, Jr. was born December 2, 1938 in Tacoma, WA to Thomas Holland and Annarose (Horeau) Fox. He attended St. Martin’s Academy and Sturgis High School in Sturgis, SD and graduated from Clifton Springs High School in Clifton Springs, NY. He enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska during the cold war. Tom’s proudest moment was when he broke a Russian spy code. Following his Army discharge, he attended University of South Dakota and graduated with a bachelor of arts degrees in history and math. He lived and worked in Chicago, IL most of his adult life as a computer programmer. Tom was passionate about skiing, bow hunting, photography, history, fishing, technology and motorcycles. He was a life-long learner. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by sisters: Patsy Fox of Mitchell, SD, Betsy Sauer of Minneapolis, MN, Loretta Cartwright of Miami, FL; brother, Tony Fox of Milpitas, CA; nieces and nephews: Joe Sauer, Robin (Bill) Gustafson and Brianna (Samuel) Gates, Allen, Tim and John (Jennifer) Lushbough, Nicholas and Rita Sutton, Halley, Meghan, George Gustafson, Annie, B J and Cheryl Cartwright, Scott and Emily Fox; and great nieces and nephews: Brendan and Kael Lushbough, Jack, Ruby and Lily Lushbough.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Anne; and brother, Edward.
