Marcella I. Hollmann was born August 24, 1920 in Emery, SD, to John B. and Margaret (Schleich) Kayser. Marcella was raised on the family farm, the oldest daughter of nine, she helped her mother with house work and the siblings until she moved to Mitchell and worked at various businesses on Main Street: Bushnell Bakery, a local cleaners, and Council Oakes to name a few. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha business womens sorority. She met Paul A. Hollmann from Armour, SD., at a dance, and married him on February 14, 1955. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Marcella became a stay at home mom and started her own business “Hollmann Upholstery and Drapery” recovering furniture, sewing drapes and clothing for others. She enjoyed gardening and baking.
She is survived by her four children: Annette M. Kost, John L. Hollmann, Rebecca S. Hollmann all of Mitchell, Victor P. Hollmann of Mesa, AZ., one grandson, John V. Titze, one sister, Florence Barfield, Jacksonville, FL., one brother, LeRoy “Pete” (Bev) Kayser, Mitchell, three sisters-in-law, Lois Kayser, Eleanor (Victor) Kayser and Gertrude (Bill) Kayser.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, two sisters: Agnes “Tootsie” (Dave) Crouch, Amelda (Ty) Larsen, four brothers, Victor, William, Norbert, Lawrence (Rita) Kayser, son-in-law, David Kost and brother-in-law, Jim Barfield.
