Benjamin Robert Tollefson


April 30, 1987 - October 16, 2015


     Benjamin Robert Tollefson was born to and Gene and Kathy (Voje) Tollefson on April 30, 1987 in Mitchell, SD. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston, SD. He attended and graduated from Parkston High School in 2007.  He attended Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, SD and was currently employed at Big Dog Concrete in Mitchell, SD at the time of his death.

     Ben was known for his huge smile and vigorous sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan especially for the San Francisco Forty-Niners and Tennessee Volunteers.  His knowledge of sports and current events was unbelievable. Ben continued his love for playing football after high school and played for the Sioux Falls Lawdawgs.  He believed in treating others with kindness and never passing judgment on people.  He always kept an open mind when meeting new people and enjoyed listening to people’s life experiences. Throughout Ben’s short life on earth he had a love for his family and friends and believed that only God could judge him.

     Ben is survived by his parents, Gene and Kathy Tollefson of Parkston; sister, Tara Tollefson and fiancé, Nick Kocourek  of Mitchell, SD,  sister, Tonya Stahl and husband, Bret of Mitchell, sister, Chris Rogers and husband, Tim of Rapid City, SD, brother, Mike Tollefson and wife, Mindy of Green River, WY;  aunts and uncles: Chad and Katina Voje of Parkston, Darrell and Dee Dee Tollefson of Aberdeen, SD,  Gloria and Mel Tuffs of Mt. Vernon, SD, Garry and Sara Tollefson of Mt. Vernon, SD, Dorene and Richard Polz of Jackson, MN, Mary Lou Tollefson of Mitchell, SD, Herb Tollefson of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces: Berkley Mayer, Katie Stahl,  Mikayla Rogers, Alex Rogers, Mya Tollefson and nephews: Sam Stahl and Mason Tollefson; numerous cousins and special friend, Charity Lucas.

     Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Donna Voje, Dorene and Lyle Tollefson; aunt, Shanna Reischl, aunt Martha Hanson, uncle Jim Hanson, uncle Randy Tollefson and several cousins.


In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be set up in Benjamin’s name.
