Elsie A. Badger

November 28, 1926 - July 14, 2015

On the morning of July 14, 2015 Elsie Badger, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes at her residence at Weskota Manor, Wessington Springs, S.D.
Elsie was born near Mott, North Dakota and spent her early years there. At age 20 she married Dean T. Badger in Billings, Montana.

She had two children with Dean, a son, Thomas W. Badger and a daughter, Mary L. Freidel. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her much happiness and joy.
She had an adventurous life with Dean hunting, fishing, growing large gardens. She worked at the Gettysburg, S.D.  school and later ran the local bowling alley for years before moving to Rapid City, S.D. Over the years she won many awards for her marksmanship, and trophy fish and wildlife. Elsie loved nature, especially the flowers and the birds. She taught her family many life skills they will always cherish. She will be missed....
Elsie requested no formal service. A memorial bird bath will be placed next to Dean’s memorial bench at West Whitlocks Resort, on the Missouri river near Gettysburg, S.D., where they had many wonderful memories and hours of enjoyment.

I am sorry for your loss and our loss. I always tried to see Elsie every year and call her on her birthday. We had many great visits at the home in Rapid and in Mitchell. I will miss her. Dean was the last of the original 11 children and Elsie was the last Badger spouse.

Tom and Mary Lou, sending my condolences. I now live in Wessington Springs and noticed the name Elsie Badger across the hall from my mother in law at the manor. I thought of your mom and your family but didn't take time to confirm if it she had a Gettysburg connection until she passed away. Sincere sympathy to you.
