Cornelia "Corky" Donker was born January 18, 1931 at home in Aurora County to Gerrit and Ida (Klein) Overweg. She attended school in Center and Crystal Lake Townships and graduated from Stewart’s School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls. She worked out of her home for many years. On December 15, 1948 she married Peter “Bud” Donker. Together they farmed, which kept her busy providing for a growing family. Corky was an avid gardener and canner, she loved flowers and enjoyed doing field work, lambing sheep, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Dorcas Society in church and taught Sunday School and Catechism for many years. She was a member of the garden society and loved arranging bouquets for church, weddings and family occasions. She was a member of the Dakota Classic Cruisers Car Club, loved to travel, go camping, music, singing and dancing.
She leaves behind to morn her death her husband of 66 years, Peter “Bud” Donker, four children: Patricia Ann (Alan) Zwart, Larchwood, IA; Gloria Ilene (Don) Walz, Sun City West, AZ; Marcia June (Douglas) Beltman, Platte; Myron “Mike” (Dawn) Donker, Stickney; three sisters: Dora (Alvin) Dykstra, Stickney; Maybelline (Norman) Groeneweg and Thelma Bennett, Napa, CA; brother, Albert (Ardis) Overweg, Mount Vernon; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Dirk, Albert, Ivan, several sisters and brothers-in-law and three sons-in-law.
