Marguerite Marie Livesay


December 3, 1921 - January 8, 2015



Marguerite Marie Livesay was born on December 3, 1921 to Pete and Mary (Hohn) Bauhs in Orient SD. She attended her first year of school at Zell Boarding School; she also attended Orient Country School and graduated from Ethan High School.

On January 28, 1946 after DeLoss returned from Europe during WW 2 they were united in marriage at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home in Inglewood, CA and had a family of four boys: Donald Sr., Bruce, Robert, and Douglas. While living in Inglewood, CA she worked at North American Aircraft and then for Rockwell Corporation. They returned to Mitchell, SD where she worked for many years in the Treasurer’s Office at the Davison County Courthouse retiring on November 14, 1986.

She was also very active in local and state politics. She enjoyed tending to her rose bushes and tulips.  After retiring she wrote a book that was published called “Prairie Memories from the Bauhs House”.  She was a very devout catholic and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

She is survived by her three sons:  Bruce, Sioux Falls SD, Robert, Brandon SD and Douglas, Fresno CA; two sisters:  Joyce Leischner, Parkston and JoAnn Ray, Rapid City; five grandchildren:  Donald Jr, Dusty, Gretchen, Eric and Jessica and four great-grandchildren:  Morgan, Addison, Kinley and Taven.

She is preceded in death by her husband, DeLoss, son, Donald Sr., her parents, Pete and Mary Bauhs; three brothers:  Rhodell, Duane and Verdell and one grandson, Travis.

Marguerite's Mother was a cousin of my father and marguerite was highschool classmate of mine in Ethan, S. D. Ironically, her husband , Delos, was in the same W War !! unit as my husband, and when their military units started having reunions..We, as well as they, attended. I send condolences to the remaining members of her family. Lexie Schelp
