Obituary

Clayton McLaughlin, 88, of White Lake, SD formerly of Mitchell, died Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Downtown First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. A visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Masks are strongly encouraged. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Clayton LeRoy McLaughlin was born October 20, 1932, to George and Myrtle McLaughlin in Pierre, SD. He lived in Draper, SD all his “growing up” years. During his teen years, Clayton worked for area farmers, and later worked for C. H. Lien, Mauer Construction in Iowa, and Lindekugel Construction in Mitchell until he began working for Northwestern Public Services. Clayton then retired from Northwestern after 26 years of service.

Clayton served his country from 1953 to 1955. While stationed in Korea, he met the cousin of his future wife. Clayton was united in marriage to Annie Elliott on January 21, 1956.

Clayton is survived by his two children, David (Cheri) McLaughlin of Monroe, IA and Connie McLaughlin of Wessington Springs, SD; two granddaughters, Tamara (Dave) Williams and Alison McLaughlin; great-granddaughter, Maleah Marcum; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie; parents; brothers, Chester, Earl (Mickey), and Laverne; sisters, Lucile Blocker and Arlene Volmer.

Dave, Connie & family - so sorry to hear of Clayton's passing. He was such a joy at the nursing home, I will truly miss him. He & Annie are together again. May God grant you peace at this difficult time, you remain in my thoughts & Prayers

Sorry to learn of a loss of great uncle Clayton. He was close in age to my mom Beverly. Much thanks to a service in the army during the Korean War. a
And he will be missed very much
