Michael “Mike” Goldammer, 69, of Mitchell, SD, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church with a 6:30 PM scripture service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Michael “Mike” Patrick Goldammer was born on June 28, 1951 in Mitchell, SD to William and Darlene (Reinartz) Goldammer. He attended Notre Dame and Longfellow Elementary, and graduated from Mitchell Senior High. After senior high Mike attended Mitchell Vo-tech for blue printing.
Mike was united in marriage to Jane (Wagner) on November 6, 1969 in Alexandria, SD.
Throughout Mike’s life he had spent time living in the numerous cities and towns of South Dakota consisting of: Mitchell, Centerville, Estaline, Enning, Presho, Wasta, Spearfish, Belle Fouche, Hot Spring, and Little America, Wyoming.
Mike worked at Western Chevrolet, Mitchell Pack, Coca Cola, Puetz Construction, Dean Johnson Imp., Ronnies Salvage, Midwest Coast, TRI County Imp., D&L, and Palace City Machinery before he started farming.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge.
Mike loved his family and friends. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, drag racing, and tinkering on his old cars. He loved riding his Harley with his friends, and attending the Sturgis Bike Rally. Mike also enjoyed going to Kool Deadwood Nites and camping with his friends. He passed on this love to his children and grandchildren, and was proud of the people they became. He was a giving and caring person, very straight forward, and his word meant everything to him, better than any contract. Mike believed in hard work and playing just as hard. He always said, “you could never have enough money to pay for all the fun he had in his life.”
Mike is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, William (Brenda) Goldammer and Joel (Heidi) Goldammer both of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Jessica Goldammer of Mitchell; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Barb) Goldammer of Mitchell and Jay (Judy) Goldammer of Howard; and sisters, Susan (Larry) Hohn of Rockfalls, Il and Stacie Fletcher of Sioux Falls.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; great-grandson, Ollyver Goldammer; parents-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law; and one niece.
Mike always requested that the guys not wear suits and ties, but come in their blue jeans and T-shirts to his funeral.
