He would help anyone if he was able. Living in Mt. Vernon, the community he grew up in, was an honor for Chris and he did all he could to show how proud he was to be there. Chris also loved deeply. He was not afraid to tell you how he felt or what he thought. At the end of the day though, you knew you could always count on him.

Chris married Ariel Nicholson and was blessed with Myles, Ashlynn, and Haylee. In 2016 he married Amber Wulf and was blessed with Breanna and Brentley. Family to Chris was very important. He was proud and loved all of his kids. He is survived by his loving wife Amber of Mt. Vernon, his children Myles, Ashlynn, Breanna, Haylee, and Brentley. His mother Jolene Johnson of Mt. Vernon. His in-laws Randy and Flora Tieszen and Kenneth Wulf all of Mitchell. His siblings Jesse (Sarah) Johnson of Madison, Jenilee (Kory) Kludt of Sioux Falls, Zachary Johnson of Piedmont, Dillon Johnson of Mt. Vernon. His brothers-in-law Aaron (Robin) Wulf of Monticello, MN, and Tyler (Ashley) Wulf of Harrisburg. His grandparents Marie Doering, Robert and Mary Johnson, and Muriel (Mike) Schmidt all of Mitchell, and Clazina Van Wyhe of Brandon. His many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers to you, Amber and family! Words cannot express the sorrow you are all feeling at this time and will for a long time. May our Lord surround you with His love and comfort and be with you always! You do not know me so I will explain to you our connection to you. Uncle Vern and Aunt Fran were my (Sandie) aunt and uncle. My mom (Henrietta (Wulf) Schuldt Tille was a sister to Uncle Vern. We are distant cousins. Even though, I do not know you personally, my heart aches for you in your loss. Cherish those precious memories you and Chris had made and recall them often. Do take care! God be with you now and forever.

I met Chris through his Aunt Deb. Deb was my best friend. Deb started bringi g Chris to Yznkton when he was about 4 years old for vacatuon. I would watch Chris while she worked. Deb couldn't of been happier when Ariel, Miles, Ha,lie and Ashlyn entered the picture. Shs would then bring the kids to Yankton and I got to enjoy those little ones whule she worked. How she lived you al. Cbris was a fun little kid and it was neat watching him turn into a hard working young manl He would always hug Deb and I when we wohld see him. Can't help but think how hard it is to lose hiim, my heart goes out to you Jolene and you children, but Deb is welcoming him into heaven. Hugs anda prayers, don't think there is a ything hatder than lising a child..

Chris was one of my closest friends growing up, and the news of his death is heartbreaking to me. Reading the comments here tells me that he continued to live his life as I knew him. Willing to do anything for a friend, and never scared to tell someone that wasn’t a friend where they stood. I remember Chris as courageous and caring. Both in equal measure, and both in great quantities. I am sorry for his family in this time, and in the times to come. An incredible man, who will be missed dearly.
Rest easy, Chris.

May every sunrise hold more promise, every moon rise hold more peace. They say love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies. I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. To his family, wishing them peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in their hearts.
May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time. ✝️

Amber,

I pray the Lord surrounds you with people to bring you comfort during this time of great loss. May you find new mercies every morning in the steadfast love of the Lord.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬
