Obituary

Henry "Hank" Bos, 84, of Mitchell, SD, died Friday, May 22, 2020 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral services are pending under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Church of Christ at: 1600 E 1st Ave, Mitchell, SD 57301.

Henry Bos was born on July 4, 1935 in Hawarden, IA to John and Grace (Schontus) Bos. He was the 8th child of 11. Henry attended Country School through the 8th grade. He began working at the age of 13 for farmers, and when he was 18, he joined the army. Henry served 3 years in the Artillery, and received his GED at that time. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Henry was united in marriage to Kathleen Sessions on August 7, 1977.

Henry attended DeVry Institute of Technology to further his education, and later finished his education at Dakota Wesleyan.

Henry worked various jobs in Hawarden. He helped to build several golf courses. He sold Kirby vacuum cleaners with his brother, Johnie, in Yankton, SD. Then he opened a Kirby store in Mitchell. After graduating from Dakota Wesleyan, Henry worked for the State Department of Labor until retirement.

Henry was a long-time member of the Mitchell Church of Christ. He had also been a member of the Lord’s Church in Aberdeen and Yankton when he lived in those towns. For several years Hank worked with the Black Hills Bible, helping kids grow in faith and obedience to Jesus. He loved the Lord and was a humble disciple, who studied the Bible and encouraged other to follow the Word. Henry was honest, hard-working, and loved by all.

Henry is survived by his wife; brothers, Clarance and Andy; and step-children, Alva Kee of Vermillion, SD, Clarence Kee of St. Augustine, FL, Terry Kee of Brookings, SD, Liz Vodicka of Belle Fourche, SD, Thomas Sessions of Mitchell, SD.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Ralph, Wilbur, Chuck, and Johnie; sisters, Elsie, Jeanette, and Margret; and stepson, Gary Kee.
