Obituary

Erin VandenBos, 20, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 1, at Assembly of God Church in Mitchell.

Erin Lynn VandenBos was born November 11, 2003, to Hannah (Frey) and Roger VandenBos in Mitchell, SD.

Erin was a bright, cheerful young woman who loved God with all her heart. She loved her family, car racing, gardening, theatre, music, and reading. She worked at Little Learners daycare for the last two years. She also worked at County Fair, Perkins, Ruby Tuesdays. Erin loved cheese, chicken nuggets, Starbucks and was a bass-head like her stepdad. Erin would often dye her hair as she loved trying new colors. She would get excited when someone would turn on the music to YMCA and the Macarena. Erin would also go to Nana’s and stay for a girls’ night out. Erin was looking forward to helping her mother garden in the spring. She would help out at church with the youth girls. She felt God wanted her to work with youth. She also assisted on the worship team on Sunday mornings and in the nursery. She would go to kids’ camp and help as a counselor.

Erin is survived by her parents, Roger VandenBos of Platte and Hannah (Shawn) Holland of Mitchell; and siblings: Christopher (Katie) Holland, Terrain Holland, Sean Holland, Jordan VandenBos, Sonya Spinella, Joshua VandenBos, Maeson Holland, and Daniel Holland.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandpa and grandma Lucky, great-grandpa, Dale Franssens, great-grandma, Lois VandenBos, great-grandpa, Fred VandenBos, and cousin, Tobias Johnson-Frey.

I am so sad to see this. I was Erin's PE teacher at Longfellow and she was always so sweet and polite. I am praying for her family during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear of Erin's passing. I was Erin's Civics teacher during her freshman year at Mitchell High School. Although I didn't have the pleasure of having her as a student again, I remember her as a very kind person. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Erin was the reason I came to god and help me through one of my darkest times and was by my side when I went to youth camp.. she will be missed she was the most loving caring lady that u will ever know. Love and miss u Erin izzg

I remember being a Freshman and being best friends with Erin. We bought matching stuffed animals and we were in SPOOFED together. She was so nice, sweet and so very kind. She helped me with so many things and I miss her completely. I send my best regards and condolences to her family.

I don't know what to say, I lost one my good old friends. Erin helped me out my Freshman year and helped me when we were in SPOOFED. She was an amazing person. I miss her completely. Erin was very compassionate. My condolences goes to her family
