Obituary

Douglas Oster, 72, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls with loved ones by his side. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 22, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Sunday, April 21, from 1-3:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Douglas Bernard Oster was born June 21, 1951, to Bernie and Iris (Goldammer) Oster in Mitchell, SD, where he grew up and made his life. Doug had two sons, Kohl and Cody, whom he was extremely proud of. Doug worked for Davison Hanson Rural Water for 22 years, retiring in 2020. He spent many hours mowing his yard, doing anything outside, working with his hands and working on old cars. Doug loved riding his Harley and spending time with his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his sons, Kohl (Jessica) Oster of Mitchell and Cody (Kaitlyn) Oster of Hermosa; sister, Sandra (Bob) Young of Mitchell; and his grandbabies, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, William and Mary Oster, and John and Mattie Goldammer.
